Photo by Ally Heraper. This photo was taken at Western Cup right after I took a very hard tackle to the ground during our very first game of the tournament against ASU. It’s an odd photo to choose I know, but it represents a lot for me. Before quidditch I struggled with my identity a lot and pretended to be various things that naturally I wasn’t, all to fit in. Quidditch was where everything clicked for me. I met Becca last year when she joined our team in the fall and a wonderful relationship has since progressed between us. I love her very much, and if it hadn’t been for quidditch (in more ways than one) I don’t think we would be be together now.
Last summer my parents found out about our relationship and the simplest way to put it is that it wasn’t pretty. My relationship with them has deteriorated significantly. I don’t know where I would be today without Becca and all my other quidditch friends who have showed me so much love and support. That photo symbolizes the support I have received from quidditch which I cannot thank everyone enough for. Quidditch has given me a love for life that I never thought existed and a love with a person that I never dreamed possible.
I haven’t actually met either of them, but they are adorable and both so amazing.
For those of you whose weakness is french fries, here’s a healthier alternative. And if you don’t like all the spices? Just throw some kosher salt on them instead.
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes…
I really wish I had sweet potatoes right now…
Photo by Deanna Edmunds. The Maryland Marauders at the Nittany Lion Cup were able to find the perfect balance between competitive and fun when players from Maryland, other schools, and quidkids who don’t usually play on tournament teams came together and ended up forming new bonds and taking the tournament in the process.
Photo by Deanna Edmunds. At UMD’s Turtle Cup in the fall we played music during downtime. “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” was played during one of these breaks and pretty much all the teams stormed the pitch to start jigging and dancing. It was a wonderful way to break tension during a tournament and let loose with other Quidditch players.

Our teacher in Creative writing told us to create some sort of collage using words. I really kept trying to think about what I could possibly do, but the only thing that kept popping into my mind was DFTBA :) So.. I took the different acronyms of DFTBA that are in the DFTBA song, and I did this with them and my pictures that I took from photography 1 last year :3 I really love how it came out! I just hope John and Hank don’t mind. Either way, thank you for the inspiration, Nerdfighteria!! :D
This is only my second time painting my nails with a picture but I think these are pretty sweet. I know the pics are kind of blurry but here’s whats on them:

Hrm… I can’t tell stories very well, but I’ll mention a few awesome/fun things that happened this semester, according to me anyway:
- Watching Mean Girls and then going to Plato’s at like 1-2am… my first time really hanging out with Quidditch people, realizing that all events with the team last…
From Caroline. I agree with most of these. :)
We did a secret snitch gift exchange today, after our last practice of the semester. A lot of people got really awesome and thoughtful gifts, and sitting in that room reminded me of why I love this team so so so much. Two of our players, Ryan and Caitlin, are graduating. They’re both beaters, and…
