This makes my heart warm and fuzzy.
The International Quidditch Association (IQA) was able to host the first convention for Quidditch. This event was called Quidcon. The event was hosted in Chicago and lasted for about two days. The first day started with sessions, which included snitch training, IQA history, media use, and much more. In the afternoon, a Quidditch themed wedding, a fake one, was held with Alex Benepe, the commissioner of the IQA, as the Pastor. Later that night, the guests danced at the Sirius Black Tie Ball Dance, which ranged from swing dancing to mosh pits. The next day was the Quidditch Tournament, the teams consisting of players from the Northeast, Midwest, West, and South/Canada. The tournament was not only to see which team was best, but was a training excercise for snitches and referees. It was a long hot day of Quidditch. After a quick change, the guests went downtown to see the Windy City. As small as the event was, it was a complete success. People are anxious to find out when the next Quicon will be.
What would you like to see happen at QuidCon 2013?
What do y’all want from QuidCon 2013? I am already super excited, FYI.
Sarah Woolsey, everyone.
Facebook comments are good:
Sarah Woolsey: I feel like this sums me up as a person.
Emily Crouch: FLAWLESS PICTURE IS FLAWLESS
Alicia Radford: Staff badge 2013!!
As more pictures surface from QuidCon, these are probably the favorites of mine that I’m in.
You know… besides the Legion of Doom/Quidvengers one.We have:
- I was the only one paying attention/posing.
- Logan and I swing dancing. I remember exactly when this was taken and how I was trying so hard not to smile. Also, I remember that we broke swing dancing.
- Everyone doing the Wobble, with me doing my poking dance in the background.
- Some of the female Legionairs being super intense about existing.
Also, pictures now exist that prove I actually play. Like… I’m on my broom and guarding my hoops. There is also a picture existing that was taken a second after Benape knocked me over. I’m still on the ground and he’s scoring.
BAMF girls in that fourth picture.
QuidCon pretty much in a nutshell.

Somehow this became the anthem of QuidCon. I wasn’t displeased.
I feel so proud to have been part of the QuidCon 2012 staff, and I had a weekend that was beyond words. Life is good.
